3.  Plan the date carefully.  Consider the weather, other scheduled commitments, traffic patterns around your wedding or reception area, and holidays during that month.

4.  Check local hotel rates and possible group rates for family and friends flying in for your day.

5.  Involve the groom in your planning, even if it is minimal input from him.  Make him feel part of your day.

6.  Brides - Pack your bags with emergency pairs of this and that, including white chalk to touch up unexpected spots.

 

Items Easily Forgotten

1.  Don't forget to set a budget and discuss how expenses will be shared.

2. Keep all contracts, forms, and important papers.

3.  Send an engagement photo and announcement to the local newspaper.

4.  Confirm your delivery dates for wedding gowns, dresses and floral arrangements.

5.  Make a list of gifts received and send "thank you" cards.

6.  Confirm your honeymoon reservations.

7.  Arrange for name and address changes: bank accounts, credit cards, driver's license, ss card, etc.

8.  Check marriage license requirements: blood tests, medical exams, birth certificates, etc.
